China looks to negotiate with India over frontier disputes

BEIJING - China hopes to solve frontier disputes with India through friendly negotiation, the foreign ministry spokesman said Friday.

Spokesman Hong Lei made the comments at his regular press briefing when asked about Sino-Indian boundary issues and bilateral relations. He said that the border area has been maintained peacefully and remained stable.

China and India both want to use friendly negotiation when resolving boundary issues, according to Hong. Meetings between special representatives have been positive, he said.

"China develops in a peaceful way wholeheartedly, and hopes to maintain a friendly and cooperative relationship with India. China wishes to settle boundary issues through negotiation wholeheartedly," Hong said.

Hong said to create a brighter future in Sino-Indian relations, the two countries needed to strengthen mutual trust
