Indian Air Force fills key slots

 


In two crucial appointments in the IAF, Air Marshal RK Sharma took over as the new Eastern Air Command chief at Shillong, while Air Marshal S Sukumar replaced him as the new IAF deputy chief at the Air Headquarters here on Saturday.



Air Marshal Sharma is the new in-charge of IAF in the entire eastern theatre at a time when India is undertaking a massive upgrade of military infrastructure in the region to strategically counter China. Air Marshal Sukumar will guide all the modernization plans of the force, including the almost $20 billion MMRCA (medium multi-role combat aircraft) project to acquire 126 French Rafale fighters.
