Jammu and Kashmir government will start an air courier service from Kargil to Jammu and Srinagar from December 5 after heavy snowfall has led to the closure of Srinagar-Kargil road.
“In view of closure of Srinagar-Kargil road due to snow fall at Zojila, the government has made arrangements for Kargil Courier Service between Srinagar and Kargil from December 5,” an official spokesperson said today.
He said AN-32 cargo planes of the Indian Air Force will shuttle thrice a week between Kargil and Srinagar and once a week between Kargil and Jammu.
“Stranded passengers desirous of purchasing tickets of Kargil Courier Service can report to the Liaison Officer at Kargil House Bemina, Srinagar tomorrow,” he added.
